What is the brake?

The brake is what you use to stop you and your bike if you need to slow down or stop completely. The bike has a brake for both the front- and rearwheel.

What is a brakepad?

The brakepad is the rubber on your brakes that actually makes you brake. When you hit the brakes, the brakepad hits the wheels and the friction between the brakepad and the wheels will make you slow down.

What are the seatrails?

The seatrails are 2 metalpoles that connects the saddle and the seatpost. It is often made in such a way, that you can move the saddle a bit forward or backwards so it can suit you as good as possible.

What is the seatpost clamp?

The seatpost clamp is a little ring that makes sure that the seatpost doesnt fall down into the frame. You can tighten and losen in in order to adjust the height of the saddle.

What is a headset?

No, a headset isn't just something you use for listening to music. There is also a headset on a bike, which is located at the front where It connects the stem with the frame.

What is the top tube?

The top tube is the upper horizontal part of the frame. It is between the seatpost and the headset.

What is the stem?

The stem is the part that connects your handlebar with the rest of the bike. The stem is usually about 10-13 cm's long and horizontal. Some riders prefer to have a smaller frame and a long stem because it increases the stability when you ride.

What is the brake cable?

The brake cable is what connect the levers with the brakepads. Without the brake cable you can not brake using your brakes.

What is the seat tube?

The seat tube is the part of your frame where the seatpost goes in. The other end is at the crank.

What is the front derailleur?

The front derailleur is what makes you able to shift between the two cogs on the crankset.

What is a bottle cage?

The bottle cage is what holds your bottles on your bike. Usually you can have two bottle cages on your bike. They can be fabricated in everything from steel, plastic and carbon fibre.

What is the down tube?

The down tube is the part of the frame that connects the headset/fork with the crank.
